An environmentally friendly winery and vineyard operation
We practice all the following:
Erosion control with straw and rye grass in vineyard roads
No till erosion control in the vine rows
Native and imported ground cover to prevent erosion in vine rows
We use an organic product for grapevine pest control
We are investigating the use of a new organic herbicide
At harvest the grape pomice is spread in the vine rows and acts as fertilizer
Stems at harvest are spread in the vine roads to help to prevent erosion.
We are an estate grown winery.
The majority of lumber used to build the winery and home was cut and milled on the property. We were the first in the county to use OSB (plywood substitute) which makes use of material previously discarded or burned. We have planted more trees to try to replace some of the trees cut down.
We have a solar powered winery. When we generate more electricity than we need it goes into the grid for distribution other places.
